PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Junior explorer Rum Jungle Resources has reported a maiden inferred Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant brine potash resource of 4.5-million tonnes at its Lake Hopkins project, in Western Australia.

The Lake Hopkins resource was based on 18 air core drill holes, and some 382 m of drilling conducted in June this year.

The company said on Friday that a brine exploration target of between 2.5-million to 3.8-million tonnes had also been estimated for the immediate surrounding tenements, which were also owned by Rum Jungle.

The maiden resource at Lake Hopkins further added to Rum Jungle’s portfolio in central Australia, which included the 13-million-tonne Lake Mackay South joint venture, and the 8.3-million-tonne Karinga Lakes project. The junior also had two other major salt lake projects under application in central Australia.
