Maiden resource at Cazaly/Winmar JV
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed junior Cazaly Resources and its partner Winmar Resources has announced a maiden inferred resource of 343.2-million tons at the Hamersley iron-ore joint venture (JV), in the Pilbara.
The resource comprises an indicated resource of 42.6-million tons, grading 55.2% iron, and an inferred resource of 300.6-million tons, grading 54.5% iron.
Cazaly told shareholders that the upgrade of the mineral resource to the indicated category provided the JV partners with the opportunity to start a range of studies, including scoping studies, mine economic studies, environmental studies and Native Title negotiations, as part of a prefeasibility stage.
The studies would examine the potential for the early development of a direct shipping ore (DSO) project from the material to the south-west of the project area.
Winmar noted that discussions were also under way with parties to identify and collaborate on strategic infrastructure solutions in line with the project’s development plan. Both road and rail opportunities were being pursued.
Cazaly MD Nathan McMahon said on Thursday that the resource upgrade was a positive step towards the development of the Hamersley project, and added additional credibility and urgency to the discussions that were under way with potential infrastructure providers, Native Title parties and with contractors working on the prefeasibility studies.
