The Palabora Mining Company is conducting a feasibility study on a proposed 300-km pipeline from its copper mine in Phalaborwa, in Limpopo province, to the Port of Maputo, in Mozambique, which will enable it to export its 240-million tons of magnetite - a by-product of its copper-mining - in greater volume.
Value
If the company goes ahead with the pipeline, it may need to raise between $500-million and $1-billion to fund the project.
