Johannesburg-based mining supplier Afri-Tech officially launched its new locally manufactured forced ejection nozzle at Electra Mining Africa on Tuesday.

The nozzle, which is designed for use in foam suppression plants and washing plants, has zero water usage, saving much of this scarce resource. Zero water usage is becoming a priority on processing plants, and the Power Nozzle has therefore been designed to use recycled water. If the spray pattern is blocked, the Power Nozzle simply flushes the debris out and returns to the spraying position. The fully automatic nozzle reduces restarts on mines owing to decreased maintenance requirements, while downtime is virtually eliminated.

The nozzle is suitable for use on most applications, including gold, platinum and coal mining, and has been successfully tested at several of South Africa’s largest gold and platinum mines.

The product has been in development for over three years and the company aims to export the product to Australia and other mining countries.
