Integrated Pump Rental believes there is a need on the African continent for a pump rental company that is able to offer a turnkey pumping solution for small, medium and large projects. MD Lee Vine says Integrated Pump Rental has been filling this void for some time.

He says Electra Mining Africa 2016 provides a solid platform from which the company will be able to demonstrate this capability and its in-depth experience in the pumping market.

“Significantly, Integrated Pump Rental adopts a completely different approach in this sector,” Vine explains.

“It is not a case of one-pump-fits-all when it comes to the type of pumping environment in which we operate. While we do have off-the-shelf options available for rent, we believe it is essential to undertake a complete assessment of a customer’s pumping application and only then recommend a fit-for-purpose solution.”

Operating from an outside stand, Integrated Pump Rental will have some of the pumping solutions in its range on display and its technical team will be on hand to discuss options capable of meeting specific customer needs.

Two locally manufactured pump solutions will be on display – the SlurrySucker and the SlurryBlaster.

The SlurrySucker Dredge unit, ideal for dredging and cleaning water capture areas where silt or slimes is an issue, makes the regular cleaning of process water ponds, return water dams or other water storage areas simpler and faster.

Two standard units are available. The smaller unit, known as the SlurrySucker Mini, is capable of extracting 120 m3/h of slurry/water mixture, equating to 30 dry t/h to 40 dry t/h. It has a 100 mm discharge. The larger unit, the SlurrySucker Maxi, has a 150 mm discharge and is capable of achieving double this extraction volume of its smaller counterpart. It removes between 70 dry t/h and 80 dry t/h.

The SlurrySucker Dredge units are manufactured using locally produced components and, depending on the dredging operation requirement, it will use either a Grindex dewatering pump or a Grindex slurry pump. The use of readily available components means lead times are substantially shortened for both complete units as well as spare parts.

Also on display will be the locally engineered and manufactured SlurryBlaster. Launched late last year, this hydro mining equipment solution offers the most efficient performance coupled with reliability. Typical applications include plant floors and sumps, drainage areas, tailings dams, process water dams and other difficult-to-reach areas.

The SlurryBlaster is available in three main configurations; a pontoon for use on ponds and dams, trailer-mounted or in a traditional manual set up. It can, however, be modified to suit individual customer application requirements.

Each SlurryBlaster installation comes standard with a 37 kW feed pump with float, a 22 kW slurry pump for the removal of the slurry, a 200 m heavy-duty layflat hose and an electric control panel. This hydro mining solution is available for rental or outright purchase.

The newest addition to the company’s range is the Sykes diesel driven mobile pump, which is suitable for all applications where electrical power is not readily available. These pumps feature automatic priming capabilities based on a Venturi system that can deliver suction lifts of up to 9 m.

Sykes pumps are engineered to offer market-leading efficiency and are extremely robust, states Integrated Pump Rental. These pumps feature a 316SS impeller and wear plates as standard construction, ensuring reliability coupled with versatility. The dry running, oil-lubricated mechanical seals fitted to the Sykes range allow the pumps to operate under snore conditions and reprime automatically without incurring damage.

Vine says Integrated Pump Rental is achieving successes across Africa and attributes this to its knowledge of the continent, as well as an understanding of the logistical challenges.

“Integrated Pump Rental’s pumping solutions are engineered to deal with the harsh operating conditions on the continent and options include both medium and long-term turnkey rental solutions,” he concludes.
