PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Lithium developer Liontown Resources on Tuesday refuted claims that it had received a further takeover proposal after rebuffing a A$2.50-a-share offer from North American major Albemarle Corporation.

The Australian Financial Review reported that Liontown had reportedly fielded a fresh takeover proposal in recent weeks as a rival bid to Albemarle’s offer, with the article tipping Wesfarmers, South32, Fortescue Metals, Chilean major SQM and the joint venture between IGO and Tianqi as logical contenders.

However, Liontown on Tuesday told shareholders that the company had not received any further takeover proposals, including any non-binding indicative proposals, since its rejection of the Albemarle proposal at the end of March.
