Established over 42 years ago, Kwatani is the largest independent privately owned original-equipment manufacturer supplying and manufacturing custom designed vibratory equipment in Africa, with over 15 000 units in more than 35 countries.

An average of one vibrating unit a day is dispatched from the company’s 17 000 m2 fabrication facility in Johannesburg. Kwatani is an ISO 9001:2015 and Level 3 B-BBEE accredited South African company.

All Kwatani’s vibratory screening and feeding equipment is custom engineered for tonnage and manufactured in-house. Kwatani’s extensive engineering capacity includes finite element analysis modelling and research and development capabilities, complete with a full-scale test laboratory.

‘KwaTani’ translated from Swahili means engineered ‘For Tonnage’. Kwatani is proudly African and has changed its name from Joest to Kwatani, to reflect its African heritage.

Known for its ability to custom engineer fit-for-purpose vibrating equipment to meet specific application requirements and match existing plant footprints, Kwatani’s extensive installed machine base operates in some of the most extreme conditions and environments. Its reference base with blue chip and junior miners is spread across processing plants in and beyond Africa and is testament to Kwatani’s reliable and robust vibrating equipment, providing continuous tonnage over the lowest cost of ownership.

Individual machines range in weight from less than 1 t to as much as 54 t and handle heavy metal ore throughputs of up to 7 000 t an hour. The largest screens are up to 4.3 m wide by 11 m long. These screening ‘beasts’ deliver solid performances in the most arduous conditions and are aptly named after rugby star Tendai ‘Beast’ Mtawarira’s tough tenacity.

Kwatani has successfully and seamlessly undertaken numerous large-scale vibrating equipment retrofits within existing plant infrastructures. These retrofits are performed with minimal changes to plant infrastructure, while offering improved screening, feeding efficiency and uptime and simultaneously ensuring the lowest cost of ownership.

Kwatani is committed to maintaining its customers’ uptime by ensuring a fast turnaround time with 24/7 customer service, through its comprehensive service centre and branch network located in all major mining areas throughout South Africa and support extending into Africa.
