TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Nevada-focused miner Klondex Mines on Monday announced that it had received the final permit for its rapid infiltration basin (RIB) at its Fire Creek project, representing the final construction milestone for the project.

The RIB was expected to be complete in the third quarter and represented the project's long-term water management solution.

The Bureau of Land Management had issued a ‘Determination of National Environmental Policy Act Adequacy’ related to the RIB pipeline and infiltration basin. The RIB design infiltrated water that complied with state and federal drinking water standards and discharged it into the ground.

“Construction of the RIB improves our water management at Fire Creek, resulting in more flexible operations. We are now focusing our attention on acquiring the environmental permits for full production, expected in the second half of 2015,” Klondex VP of business development Mike Doolin said.
