Kingsrose readies for first gold shipment
KALGOORLIE (miningweekly.com) – Gold junior Kingsrose Mining was gearing up to ship its first gold and silver dore from the Talang Santo mine, in Indonesia.
The miner said on Tuesday that some 2 000 oz of gold and 5 650 oz of silver would be shipped, subject to final assay at the refinery.
“We are very pleased to be shipping our first dore in under a month of receiving final approvals. This shipment represents a major milestone in the restart of the Way Linggo project,” said Kingsrose MD Scott Huffadine.
Operations at Way Linggo were scaled back in July last year, with normal mining activities suspended as ore production rates continued to fall. Later that year, Kingsrose announced plans to restart the processing plant, which would process ore from the Talang Santo operation.
Huffadine noted that 5 012 t of ore, at an average head grade of 10.9 g/t gold and 31 g/t silver had been processed by the end of July, with the mill running at an average throughput rate of 300 t/d. The mill throughput was expected to progressively increase to the 380 t/d nameplate capacity over the coming months.
A number of process plant initiatives were also aimed at circuit optimisation and cost savings, including the semi-autogenous mill standalone to achieve the required grind size without the need to parallel the ball mills. Trials on thickening leach feed were also under way, which, if successful, would reduce reagent costs.
Talang Santo is the second underground mine at the Way Linggo gold project, is 17 km from project infrastructure and has a resource of 287 489 oz of gold and 894 951 oz of silver.
