Name and Location
Kilba tungsten project, Australia.

Client
Tungsten Mining.

Project Description
The Kilba tungsten project is located the Gascoyne region of Western Australia.

A scoping study has confirmed the economic and technical viability of the project.

The project has a Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resource of 1.4-million tonnes of contained tungsten oxide (WO3). Proposed is a conventional drill-and-blast, truck-and-shovel, load/haul/dump openpit mining operation, with a seven-year mine life and average production of 154 000 t/y of WO3.

An off-the-shelf transportable-style crushing circuit, comprising a primary jaw crusher, a double-deck screen, a secondary cone crusher and all interconnecting conveyors, has been selected as it will result in a shorter site construction and commissioning time and will be cheaper per capita overall.

The processing plant will have a capacity of 750 000 t/y and comprise a two-stage crushing circuit, a 200 t surge bin, an open circuit rod mill to 1.5 mm, three-stage spirals, a regrind ball mill, two-stage tables, classification by high-frequency screens, a high-rate thickener and concentrate dressing offsite.

Value
Preproduction capital is estimated at A$56-million.

Duration
Production is targeted for late 2014.

Latest Developments
Based on the results of the scoping study, Tungsten aims to immediately initiate a definitive feasibility study (DFS), the results of which are expected in the second half of this year.

The DFS will focus on detailed mine planning, processing optimisation, strengthening of contract rates and operating cost reduction initiatives.

Further drilling will be conducted at Zone 8 and Zone 11 to infill an estimated 40 × 40 grid to improve the confidence levels of the resource statement and to possibly extend the current Jorc resource, especially in Zone 8.

Key Contracts and Suppliers
None stated.

On Budget and on Time?
