Brief Description  
The Kidd mine is the world’s deepest base metal mine below sea level, mining at about 2 900 m, with the shaft bottom at about 3 000 m.

Operations include the Mine 5 operation, the down-dip extension of the Kidd mine deposit, which is a volcanic massive sulphide copper/zinc/silver deposit.

Brief History  
The Kidd Creek orebody was discovered in 1963. Glenore and its predecessors have been mining the copper/zinc deposits since 1966.

Zinc concentrates.

Secondary Metals/Minerals  
Copper and silver.

Geology/Mineralisation  
The Kidd mine is a volcanic massive sulphide copper/zinc/silver deposit.

Mineralisation occurs within a rhyolitic volcanic/volcaniclastic sequence as massive sulphide lenses of dominantly pyrite-pyrrhotite-sphalerite-galena-rich ores that are underlain by copper in chalcopyrite stringer zones.

Reserves  
Total proven and probable reserves as at December 31, 2021, were estimated at 3.1-million tonnes grading 3.6% zinc, 1.9% copper and 45 g/t silver.

Resources  
Total measured and indicated resources as at December 31, 2021, were estimated at six-million tonnes grading 3.8% zinc, 1.8% copper and 46 g/t silver. Inferred mineral resources were 100 000 t grading 4% zinc, 1% copper and 57 g/t silver.

Mining Method  
Underground sublevel open stoping.

Major Infrastructure/Equipment  
The Kidd Operations comprise the Kidd concentrator and the Kidd mine, as well as automated loaders and ventilation on demand.

Prospects  
The mine is scheduled for closure in 2022.
