Metals company Boliden has halted production at the concentrating plant of its Kevitsa nickel/copper mine, in northern Finland, after a fire occurred in the building for the primary crushing at the mine.

The company reports that no person was injured in the fire on Thursday night. The damages, however, were extensive.

Mining production at the Kevitsa openpit is unaffected.
