The Katco joint venture (JV) between Kazatomprom and Orano Mining has suspended noncore site activities in Kazakhstan, after 128 people tested positive for Covid-19.
In a statement on Friday, Kazatomprom said Katco’s sites had been placed under quarantine on orders of health authorities.
However, the JV would continue key operations and the Covid-19 outbreak would not have an impact on its 2021 production volumes, the company stated.
A total of 666 PCR tests were performed and 128 positive cases were identified.
