PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Iron-ore developer Gindalbie Metals and its joint venture (JV) partner Ansteel were facing a court challenge from fabrication specialist AGC Industries.

Gindalbie said this week that the JV vehicle Karara Mining, which was the operator of the Karara project, in Western Australia, was currently in a dispute with AGC regarding the firm’s work on the structural, mechanical and piping contract at Karara.

In March of last year, AGC was awarded a A$160-million contract for the structural, mechanical and piping installation works at the Karara iron-ore project.

AGC this week told Karara Mining that it had started legal proceedings in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.

The JV vehicle said that it would “vigorously” defend itself against any legal actions.
