Project description
The first ever underground operation in Botswana is in the planning stage at the Jwaneng mine.
Debswana plans to extend its mining at Jwaneng to extend its life-of-mine to 2022 and to produce an average of between 13-million carats and 14-million carats of diamonds a year.

The company plans to sink an exploratory shaft to 1 000 m, as part of the study to mine underground.

Value
Debswana plans to spend 10-million pula over the next ten years to enlarge its mines, build two new plants and explore undergound mining potential at Jwaneng.

Duration
Project planning will begin in 2008, and sinking in 2009.
