PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Manganese miner Jupiter Mines has appointed Brad Rogers as MD and CEO, effective from August 1, replacing nonexecutive director Scott Winter, who has been acting CEO since November last year.

Rogers will join Jupiter from mining logistics company Bis Industries (Bis), where he has been MD and CEO since 2015. He has been part of Bis’ leadership team since 2008 and previously held senior executive roles including CFO and director of corporate development.

Prior to Bis, Rogers was GM for corporate development at mining, engineering and infrastructure company GRD Limited where he was responsible for group strategy, corporate finance and investor relations. He also led GRD’s global renewables operating business in Australia and Asia for three years.

“We are delighted to welcome Rogers to Jupiter as we embark on a strategy to deliver sustained value and growth to all our shareholders from our world-class manganese business,” Jupiter independent nonexecutive chairperson Ian Murray said.

“Rogers’ extensive experience in setting group strategy, overseeing complex mining operations and logistics, mergers and acquisitions, and investor and stakeholder relations brings a highly relevant skill set to our company.”

Jupiter’s core asset is a 49.9% beneficial interest in Tshipi é Ntle Manganese Mining, an independently managed company that operates the long-life Tshipi Borwa manganese mine in South Africa’s Kalahari region. Tshipi Borwa, which has been in production since 2012, is one of the world’s largest and lowest-cost manganese export operations.

“Jupiter has one of the world’s outstanding manganese assets and is a major low-cost and long-life supplier to key steel markets,” Rogers said.

“The Tshipi Borwa mine is well managed and provides a strong base for Jupiter to grow and expand its manganese interests. I look forward to joining Jupiter and speaking with our business partners and other stakeholders before working with the board to set and implement our strategy going forward.”
