Johannesburg is hosting its first Cycle Jozi Week to promote cycling in the city through exciting activities from 16-22 March 2015, in partnership with cycling stakeholders.

Away from the saddle, the two national workshops during the Cycle Jozi Week aim to establish a national agenda for cycling cities. SAICE and the City of Johannesburg put together a training workshop for engineers and planners on designing cycling infrastructure. This workshop will be held on 18-19 March at UJ Bunting Rd campus from 8am to 5.30pm. The event is made possible through the support of the SAICE Transportation Engineering Division, Cycle Jozi and the City of Johannesburg.

Events will include cycling activations in Orlando, where Arup is providing bibs, Diepsloot, Braamfontein and Sandton CBD, a two day training workshop on creating best practice cycling infrastructure, a workshop on creating cycling friendly cities and culminate on Sunday 22nd March with a third Freedom Ride, this time between Sandton, Alexandra and Houghton and surrounding suburbs.

For more information or to register for the workshop visit www.carlamani.co.za/cyclejoziworkshop or contact Madeleen Engelbrecht by calling +27 (0) 82 781 4461 or email Madeleen.Engelbrecht@arup.com.
