Name and Location
Jambreiro iron-ore project, Brazil.

Client
Centaurus Metals.

Project Description
The project has a Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant reserve of 48.5-million tons at an average grade of 28.1% iron for the friable component of the Jambreiro resource.

The ore reserve will provide 18-million tons of high-grade, low-impurity sinter blend concentrate – enough to underpin nine years of production at the planned two-million-ton-a-year production rate.

Value
The project has a preproduction capital estimate of A$136-million.

Duration
The company’s project execution plan centres on  the start of on-site construction that will immediately follow the receipt of an installation licence, expected in April 2013. Construction is expected to take eight months, by which time the company is expected to have been granted its mining lease, enabling it to start full-scale production.

Latest Developments
Centaurus has awarded the detailed engineering and procurement (EP) contract for the implementation of the project to Tetra Tech.

The award of the EP contract follows the recent award of the management support contract (MSC) to MCA Auditoria e Gerenciamento.

The award of the contract is consistent with Centaurus’ development schedule for the Jambreiro project and will ensure the issue of sufficient detailed construction drawings and work scopes to allow for the mobilisation of civil construction contractors to site, on approval of the final installation licence, which is expected in April 2013.

Meanwhile, discussions to secure finance for Jambreiro are progressing well, with a final investment decision and commitment to the full capital budget to be delivered upon finalisation of the overall funding mix.

Key Contracts and Suppliers
MCA Auditoria e Gerenciamento (MSC) and Tetra Tech (EP).

On Budget and on Time?
