TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – TSX-listed Ivernia on Friday announced that the Leonora to Kalgoorlie rail link, in Western Australia, had reopened for traffic after it was closed for two weeks following rain damage.

Ivernia uses the railway line to transport its lead concentrate to the Port of Fremantle, for shipping to overseas customers.

The Goldfields area experienced an unusually high rainfall in the second half of January, which caused rail transport along the line to be suspended.

Toronto-based Ivernia said shipments of containerised lead concentrate by rail from Leonora had now resumed at normal levels.

Despite the rail disruptions, Ivernia has maintained its sales guidance for the full year at between 80 000 t and 85 000 t.

Operations at the Paroo Station mine were restarted in April last year, after being placed on care and maintenance in 2011 owing to lead being found in a sample of dried mud on the bottom of a shipping container.

The state government subsequently approved new management plans for the operation.
