The South African engineering and manufacturing industries are well established industries with a global reputation for being one of the most cutting edge industries in the world. This has been driven by a dedicated focus on the companies which operate within the industry striving for excellence and improving their manufacturing and health and safety standards.

Striving to achieve these standards is an aspect which every company in the manufacturing industry should aspire to as improving standards ultimately improves the industry. This is the view of DQS CEO Francois Labuschagne who adds that demand for training in ISO standards is significantly increasing as customers seek to align themselves with companies that adhere to exacting standards. “With the recovery from the global financial crisis taking longer than expected, customers are not in a position to take a chance on companies who cannot offer an assurance on quality. The first thing that they look for is if a potential supplier is ISO certified. It is definitely making a difference in the industry and is fast becoming a consideration which manufacturing companies are putting at the top of their list rather than towards the bottom,” says Labuschagne.

In an effort to cater for the growing demand for ISO training, DQS will be running a five day training workshop at its head office in Randburg where a range of topics will be covered. “Some of the learning objectives that the course will cover will be to understand the implementation of supply chain secure management in accordance with ISO 28000, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the concepts, approaches, standards, methods and techniques required for the effective management of supply chain secure management, to acquire the necessary expertise to support an organization in implementing, managing and maintaining supply chain secure management as specified in ISO 28000 and to acquire the necessary expertise to manage a team implementing ISO28000,” says Labuschagne.

This five day intensive course enables participants to develop the necessary expertise to support an organization in implementing and managing supply chain secure management based on ISO 28000:2007. Participants will also gain a thorough understanding in best practices used to implement security controls from all areas of ISO 28002. This training is consistent with the project management practices established in ISO 10006 (Quality Management Systems - Guidelines for Quality Management in Projects) and is fully compatible with ISO 28004 (Guidelines for the Implementation of a SMS).
“Participants will benefit from the extensive knowledge and experience of DQS staff who have dedicated a lot of time and energy into gaining the necessary knowledge and experience to run this course. There will be a certification examination at the end of the course so attendees can be rest assured that clients will look at them in a different light after attending this course,” concludes Labuschagne.
