Innovative Hart Communicator From Meriam
This article has been supplied.
Meriam’s new MFC5150 HART communicator is the product that so many engineers have been looking for, evidenced by its being chosen as a finalist for Product of the Year, by the readers of the American Control magazine.
For most users, the biggest advantages are its capacity, with enough storage for every HART device driver ever registered, the fact that it operates directly off HART files with no translations, accessing all HART instruments, and the fact that it is subscription free. John Balogh, Meriam’s engineering manager, says: “We built the 5150 on HART Communication Foundation’s SDC-625 infrastructure for reading DDs directly. This enables communication to take place with any registered or unregistered HART device, ensuring that the HART transmitter will connect to the 5150 regardless of brand or model.”
This product has a large 109mm stylus-free touchscreen with full QWERTY keyboard and an “instant-on” feature, providing the power of a PC in the palm of your hand. The Windows based system has a 1 GHz processor, 256 MB of RAM, plus 512 MB of flash memory. It can support SD cards up to 8 MB. The 9.4 Ah rechargeable battery provides a full 10 hours of continuous use.
This product is certified intrinsically safe Ex ia IIC T4 Ga, and comes with a charging dock with USB connectivity. It is rated IP54, and comes with over-moulded bumpers eliminating the need for an after-market boot. There are two models, with or without IS certification, and NO options – one of the simplest purchases you’ll ever make.
