PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX- and TSX-listed IMX Resources has announced changes to its corporate structure as it moves to grow its South Australian iron-ore operations.

The company had appointed Gary Sutherland as MD, effective immediately.

Sutherland would replace acting MD John Nitschke, who would remain as a nonexecutive director of the IMX board. Sutherland was previously appointed as the MD and CEO of Flinders Mines, and spent some 12 years in senior leadership roles at BHP’s Olymic Dam and Pasminco’s Century mine.

Meanwhile, Derek Fisher, who recently joined the IMX board as a nonexecutive director, would now also be appointed as executive chairperson. Fisher has more than 40-years experience in the mining industry, in both corporate and operational roles.

David Constable would resign from the board with immediate effect.

In parallel with the appointments, IMX has also announced that it would relocate its corporate head office from Perth to Adelaide, which was consistent with the company’s focus on South Australia.

IMX was currently operating the Cairn Hill iron joint venture, where the Phase 2 extension was recently approved. This extension would increase production to around one-million tonnes a year.
