Information and communication technology (ICT) giant Huawei is preparing for the launch of its third data centre availability zone, three years ahead of schedule, as part of Huawei Cloud’s ‘Everything-as-a-Service’ approach, which is being adopted locally and globally.

Once live, the availability zone will halve cloud latency.

“The Everything-as-a-Service approach brings together traditional cloud offerings, such as Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Technology-as-a-Service and Expertise-as-a-Service,” says Huawei Cloud South Africa MD Jay Zhou.

“Key to this approach is thinking cloud-native, acting cloud-native, and applying an all-digital, all-cloud, artificial intelligence-driven mindset,” he told delegates at the Huawei Eco-Connect event, which was held in July.

Significant computing power will be required in the future and the best way to provide that power is through the cloud, he says.
