High tin, tungsten grades confirmed at Spanish project
JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – The latest drill results from Aim-listed W Resources’ La Parrilla mine, in Spain, has revealed a large lateral extension of the La Parrilla orebody to the south, with excellent grades of tungsten and tin from surface at higher grades than the rest of the orebody.
“This new data will increase initial production grades, which we are incorporating into the new mine plan,” chairperson Michael Masterman said on Monday.
Tungsten concentrate production at La Parrilla had started ahead of schedule in late September and the mine is expected to produce 2 500 t/y of 66% tungsten trioxide by mid-2017.
W Resources noted that the prospect of higher tin content at the project and the strengthening tin price, which surged from $13 500/t at the beginning of 2016 to around $20 000/t, provides potential for higher revenues and lower costs after by-product credits in the early years of production," he noted.
