Henty mine, Australia
Name of the Mine
Henty mine.
Location
About 23 km from the town of Queenstown, in north western Tasmania, Australia.
Mine Owner/s
Catalyst Metals.
Brief Description
Henty is a high-grade, underground gold/silver deposit with established infrastructure and significant exploration upside in the mineral-rich Mt Read volcanic belt.
Brief History
Catalyst acquired 100% of the Henty gold mine and regional exploration tenements in January 2021. The company poured its inaugural gold in the same month.
Primary Metals/Minerals
Gold.
Secondary Metals/Minerals
Silver.
Geology/Mineralisation
The mineralisation at Henty was formed because of faulting and fluid circulation within the Cambrian period Mt Read volcanics. Most significantly, the Henty Fault presents a regional structural control to mineralisation at several mining operations, including Rosebery, Hercules, Que River and Hellyer. The Great Lyell Fault converges with the Henty Fault and presents as a structural continuity with the Mt Lyell copper mine.
Reserves
Not stated.
Resources
Total indicated and inferred resources aa June 30, 2021, were estimated at 2.4-million tonnes grading 4.3 g/t.
Mining Method
The primary mining methods are longhole bench stoping, transverse open stoping, and cut-and-fill stoping.
Major Infrastructure/Equipment
The operation comprises an underground mine, which is accessible from surface to the series of orebodies through shaft and decline, linked to a common portal exit, and a conventional carbon-in-leach processing plant with a nameplate capacity of 300 000 t/y.
Prospects
Exploration results have yielded success with regard to the potential to increase resources, owing to high-grade intercepts outside current resource shells, and the potential to delineate new resources in new areas not previously considered.
