Gunric valves has been manufacturing butterfly and check valves in South Africa since 1989, and have continuously, through research and development, improved on the product range and introduced innovative features to suit service and client requirements. These include locking devices to ensure safety for personnel working in pipelines and steam tracing of body, disc and shaft components to keep valves warm in extremely cold environments.

In line with the philosophy of continual improvement, Gunric have achieved Safety Integrity Level 3 for the Gunric Series MS Triple Eccentric Metal Seated Butterfly Valve range. Level 3 is the highest rating which can be achieved by a valve.
Gunric already have ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001 and PED97/23 Module H certification in place.

Gunric valves are a founding member of Vale and Actuator Manufacturers Cluster Of South Africa (VAMCOSA) and supports the Government’s Policy of Localisation and Designation fully. “Gunric is fully committed to the promotion of Skills Development in our Industry and the creation of jobs”, says Marketing Director Mark Wilson. Designation will assist the ailing Steel and Engineering sector to be resuscitated.

In line with this goal, Gunric have purchased a vertical boring mill which is able to machine up to a 4000mm diameter Butterfly Valve body and disc. This means we are able to machine the really large valves in house. Localisation will bring additional demand for South African manufactured valves, particularly in products being dominated by Importers at present. Gunric have added two new products to their range – Quarter Turn Gearboxes up to a torque of 57000Nm and a range of Rubber Lined Butterfly Valves in sizes from 80mm to 3000mm. “Both these products are a natural fit into our current range of tried and tested butterfly valves”, concludes Mark Wilson
