JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Perth-headquartered Globe Metals & Mining has appointed its CEO Alistair Stephens as MD with effect from July 8.

Stephens joined the company, in which the East China Mineral Exploration and Development Bureau owns a majority stake, as CEO on May 20, replacing acting CEO Fergus Jockel, who stays on as exploration manager.

Chairperson Yi Shao said that appointing a MD with a strong track record of successful rare metals project development and financing was an “important and timely step” for Globe, which is developing the $220-million Kanyika niobium project, in Malawi.

“Since Mr Stephens joined Globe as CEO, he has provided a steadying influence and achieved the stabilisation of the company through his strong leadership. The board is delighted with the appointment of Mr Stephens as the managing director,” Shao stated.
