GIBB drives growth with its new Group Business Development Executive
GIBB, a leading consulting engineering firm has appointed Muzi Siyaya as its new Group Business Development Executive. Siyaya has stepped into the role with the main aim of developing new market opportunities for the firm’s diverse capabilities.
GIBB’s Group CEO, Richard Vries said, “Our ability to adapt and respond to a rapidly changing operational environment is at the heart of driving our business growth strategies. I am pleased to announce Muzi’s appointment, at such an exciting time in our firm’s history.” Siyaya brings a well-rounded perspective to the role having spent over 15 years across diverse industries. Prior to joining GIBB, Muzi served as Managing Director of entrepreneurial Venture Capital firm, MSG Africa Investment Holdings. He also spent more than a decade in executive and senior positions with companies such as, Dimension Data, wholly owned subsidiary Plessey, Ster-Kinekor, Cell C and MTN Swaziland, covering various roles including strategy, operations, sales, marketing and business development.
“One of the challenges we need to recognise is that organic growth can only move the needle marginally, and for us, it is exciting as we implement a multi-dimensional approach looking at other models that build powerful expertise supported by a rich pipeline of services and seeking acquisitions to ensure that the business expands in a sustainable manner,” explains Siyaya.
Siyaya will be responsible for driving growth both geographically and in terms of the services offered. He will also focus on maintaining current performance levels and defending market share while building and developing the GIBB brand through a focus on marketing and communication.
GIBB recognises the potential of Africa and is focused on enhancing its network in the rest of the continent. “The continual high economic growth in Africa, averaging between 5-6%, has seen an increase in the amount of capital infrastructure investment in the region,” said Siyaya. “GIBB is an extremely well-managed business with a solid strategic framework, highly-skilled engineers and a strong understanding of the market. It is a great honour for me to join the firm at this important stage of its growth.
Operating on a good foundation in an increasingly competitive environment, characterised by a growing influx of global engineering consulting firms, provides me with an excellent opportunity to not only maintain the firm’s current performance levels but to strengthen its position as a world-class provider of infrastructure delivery.”
