Garden Well set for June production - Regis
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Australian gold and nickel miner Regis Resources on Friday announced that it would produce between 305 000 oz and 355 000 oz of gold during the financial year, as its operations struggled under the weight of heavy rains.
Regis had previously reported that its Garden Well and Rosemont mines, in Western Australia, had been impacted by pit flooding, following significant rainfall.
Regis had been actively working to restore normal production at both these operations, with dewatering activities gaining traction. The Garden Well mine was expected to resume normal mining by the end of June.
At Rosemont, mining was continuing at the flat-lying oxide area of the North pit, but Regis noted that grade reconciliation at the pit has been poor to date, which had contributed to lower-than-expected production. Mining of the flat-lying oxide zone was nearly complete, and it was expected that the more vertically orientated fresh rock component of the orebody would perform more predictably.
Meanwhile, the Moolart Well operation, also in Western Australia, has remained unaffected by the severe weather conditions and was operating at its normal mill run rate of 2.8-million tonnes a year.
Regis said on Friday that the company’s focus would be on optimising the mining schedule and achieving the best possible steady-state mill throughput rates at both Garden Well and Rosemont, while implementing an across-the-board review of all operating costs to extract the best available efficiencies from all areas of the operation.
