Flinders appoints new CEO
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Junior Flinders Mines has appointed Steven Michael as MD and CEO, effective from March 2.
Michael has over 25 years' experience in the resources sector and was most recently the MD of ASX-listed uranium explorer Vimy Resources, which completed a A$658-million merger with Deep Yellow. Michael was previously also the MD of global business advisory FTI Consulting.
Flinders said on Thursday that Michael’s appointment positions Flinders to execute a multi-staged development of the flagship Pilbara iron ore project, with a focus on sustainable cashflow generation from this long-life asset. He will take over key executive leadership responsibilities from Flinders’ current GM, Dr Andrew Whitehead, who has served in the role since 2020.
Whitehead will remain at the company in the GM role, with Michael’s appointment enabling him to dedicate greater time and resources towards project development initiatives.
