JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Mining and exploration company First Nickel resumed normal operations on Monday, following an underground explosion at its Lockerby mine, south-west of Sudbury, in Ontario, on Sunday morning.

One worker experienced minor injuries and smoke inhalation and was discharged following a medical assessment and was now at home.

A further three workers were checked for smoke inhalation and released without medical treatment.

First Nickel was investigating the cause of the incident.
