JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Aim-listed Strategic Natural Resources (SNR) on Monday announced that the first thermal coal shipment from its Elitheni mine at Indwe, in the Eastern Cape, had left the Port of East London.

"This first cargo is a historic milestone for the company, proving our mining and infrastructure capability and marks the commencement of revenue generation for the business," SNR CEO Gabriel Ruhan commented.

SNR initially targeted coal delivery to the port by early July, after key delivery targets had been missed, which resulted in the failure to meet planned coal shipments to offtake partner Trasteel International South Africa for late January and early February.
