PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Junior Flinders Mines has reported a fire at its Pilbara iron-ore project.

The company on Friday said it had been informed by project manager BBI Group of a fire on the tenements, but noted that there had been no damage to equipment or facilities, and that no injuries had been reported on site, and that staff had been evacuated.

BBI was continuing to coordinate with fire and emergency services regarding the ongoing fire.

BBI and Flinders are jointly developing the Pilbara project, which has a current mineral resource estimate of 1.4-billion tonnes and an indicated production target of 615-million tonnes over the project’s mine life.
