With 2023 marking 30 years of Securex South Africa and 13 years of A-OSH EXPO, this year’s events – to be held at the Gallagher Convention Centre from June 6 to 8 – will showcase various security and occupational health and safety- (OHS-) related products, services and discussions.

Trade show organiser Specialised Exhibitions – a division of Montgomery Group – portfolio director Mark Anderson stresses that the exhibitions underline the organiser’s commitment to the security industry.

“It is our desire that exhibitors and visitors achieve their intended goals – whether it be new customers and sales for the exhibitors or finding the ideal solution for visitors’ security risk needs.

“We have established a solid and reputable foundation for Securex South Africa and we will continue to build on the exhibition’s unrivalled ability to bring together the exhibitors and their captive target audience in a dynamic and symbiotic manner, under one roof over a concentrated three-day period,” he explains.

The topics at the free-to-attend seminar theatres will focus on current and predicted future trends in technology and how these will impact on business operations.

This theme will highlight how the Internet of Things (IoT) and digitalisation have accelerated the integration of previously disparate and separate systems such as security, fire detection/management, health and safety, as well as facilities/building management.

This integration is reflected in the colocation of Securex South Africa, A-OSH EXPO, Facilities Management Expo and Firexpo, with Anderson noting that organisations have realised the benefits of embracing the synergy between these solutions, owing to their providing and using data to improve productivity, future planning and sustainability.

“OHS product and service providers have tapped into Industry 4.0 trends and are delivering solutions that factor in digitalisation. Additionally, training is no longer focused solely on addressing OHS issues, but also includes elements that enable organisations to capitalise on IoT and the Industrial IoT,” he says.

Further, Anderson notes that, while OHS remans an important focal point throughout various industries, increasing emphasis has been placed on employee wellbeing, which came to the fore during the Covid-19 lockdown when concerns about personal and mental health were highlighted, as per the World Health Organisation.

As a result, remote and hybrid working methods became prominent during the Covid-19 pandemic, which further increased the need for physical safety and cybersecurity.

Hence, Securex South Africa and A-OSH EXPO will highlight different safety and security solutions required for different work environments.

“Many organisations are investing heavily in ensuring that employees are not only safe in the workplace, but also equipped to cope on an emotional level,” he says.

As a result, Specialised Exhibitions has increased the floorspace for the exhibitions to cater for the expansion of the OHS and security markets, and to create more space for exhibitors to showcase offerings available from these sectors.

The exhibitions will also include discussions at the free-to-attend Securex Seminar Theatre powered by the University of South Africa, the South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (SAIOSH) Seminar Theatre, and the free-to-attend Working at Height Theatre powered by SafetyCloud.

Securex also features a new products display, the Outstanding Security Performance Awards, the South African Intruder Detection Services Association (SAIDSA) and Electronic Security Distributors Association breakfast, the K9 law enforcement demonstrations, the SAIDSA Techman competition and the drone demonstration area.

A-OSH EXPO also plays host to the SAIOSH Health & Safety Conference and a new products display.

“A visit to Securex South Africa, A-OSH EXPO, Facilities Management Expo and Firexpo should be top of your priority list if you are looking for end-to-end safety and security/risk mitigation solutions,” Anderson concludes.
