European copper producer Aurubis has reported a 31% year-on-year increase in its earnings before tax to €374-million in the first nine months of the 2026 financial year, compared with €286-million in the same months of the prior year.

The company says it benefited from higher metal prices, especially for precious metals, and higher revenues from sulphuric acid sales and processing of recycled material.

In the third quarter alone, the company generated operating earnings before tax of €149-million, compared with €57-million in the same quarter last year and €121-million in the prior quarter.

"Our focus on the multimetal business is paying off. We are delivering reliably, even in a highly demanding market environment. This is reflected in our smelters' heightened operating performance. We are also seeing more of our strategic projects ramp up," says Aurubis CEO Dr Toralf Haag.

Aurubis expects to meet the upper end of its full-year earnings guidance, anticipating operating earnings before tax to be between €425-million and €525-million.
