PERTH (miningweekly.com) – The Western Australian Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has recommended that the Warrawoona gold project be given environmental approval.

Project developer Calidus Resources on Thursday said that the EPA approval was the penultimate stage in the permitting process for the gold project, with final approval vesting with the Minister for Environment.

“The recommendation by the EPA is a key milestone in development of the Warrawoona gold project and significantly advances the timeline for permitting the development of the project,” said MD Dave Reeves.

“With all tenure now in place, and the feasibility study on track for completion in the coming quarter, Warrawoona is rapidly moving towards development.”

A 2019 prefeasibility study into the Warrawoona project estimated that it would require a capital investment of A$95-million, and would recover some 580 490 oz of gold over an initial six year mine life.
