Dual-listed platinum miner Platinum Group Metals (PTM) has appointed Enoch Godongwana a nonexecutive independent director.

Godongwana obtained an MSc degree in Financial Economics from the University of London in 1998 and has served in numerous roles in government, trade unions and industry.

He is said to bring “invaluable knowledge of the South African business environment” to PTM’s board.

Godongwana is currently serving as nonexecutive chairperson of the Development Bank of Southern Africa and is a nonexecutive director of Mondi.

PTM CEO Michael Jones welcomed Godongwana to the PTM board, saying his “extensive South African experience” will be a valuable asset to the company as it works through the financing and development of the Waterberg palladium, platinum and gold mine.
