Following the devastation caused by an earthquake in Tanzania on 10 September, Engen has pledged Tshs.10 Million in a show of support.

The donation was made in response to a call for help from government for funds to drive a disaster recovery project.

The 5.9 magnitude earthquake which struck the Kagera region in the Northern part of the country resulted in several fatalities and more than 250 injuries. There has also been severe damage to homes, roads and infrastructure, as well as hundreds of families having been left homeless.

“We trust that our donation will play a small part in helping to meet some of the challenges that lie ahead of this tragedy,” says Paul Muhato, Managing Director of Engen in Tanzania.

Tasneem Sulaiman-Bray, Engen General Manager: Corporate Affairs says that Engen is committed to supporting those in difficulty.  “We wish the people of Kagera strength through the difficult task of rebuilding their homes and lives.”

Engen Petroleum is a leading producer and marketer of fuels, lubricants and oil-based products.
