Emmerson adds to Tennent Creek resource
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Junior Emmerson Resources has reported a 107% increase in its gold resource and a 140% increase in its copper resource, following a maiden resource at its Goanna deposit and a resource upgrade at Orlando deposit, in the Northern Territory.
Drilling at both Goanna and Orlando, which form part of Emmerson’s Tennant Creek mineral field, has lifted the total gold resource to 145 000 oz and the copper resource to 122 000 t, which represented a total Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resource of 800 000 oz of gold equivalent.
“Our latest resource upgrade, combined with the continued drilling success at Goanna augurs well for continued rapid growth in our resource inventory,” said Emmerson MD Rob Bills.
He added that the company remained confident that its two-pronged strategy of building resources through near mine drilling, and defining further discoveries by deploying new technology, would deliver significant value to shareholders, particularly given the proximity to infrastructure, which would lower the barriers and risk to production.
“The next step of verifying the economics of this resource is already under way, the first part of which would include a preliminary scoping study taking into account existing infrastructure, mining methods, refurbishment of the Emmerson mill, and the addition of a copper concentrator,” Bills said.
There was also the potential to expand the resource, and Bills noted that the company was already working on its next brownfield project, and was expecting an increase in the resource inventory.
