Emerging Namibian copper miner appoints Demirkaya to head tech infrastructure
Namibia-based Consolidated Copper Corp (CCC) has appointed Yalkin Demirkaya as chief information officer and chief information security officer.
The company says his appointment will enhance the company’s technology infrastructure as CCC restarts copper mine production at three mines – Tschudi, Otjihase and Matchless – in Namibia.
The company also plans to revive the Berg Augas lead and zinc mine.
Demirkaya, who has more than 40 years of industry experience, will focus on the integration of IT systems that support CCC’s broader sustainability objectives.
Demirkaya‘s work experience includes 20 years at the New York Police Department before founding Cyber Diligence – a firm specialising in investigative, consultive and testimony services in IT.
For CCC, he will ensure the company’s cybersecurity is robust and that the group embeds best practices across all business functions.
“My goal is to harness technology to meet the challenges of modern mining while anticipating future needs. I look forward to contributing to CCC’s vision of setting new standards in sustainability and operational efficiency,” Demirkaya comments.
CCC CEO John Sisay says Demirkaya’s experience in IT and cybersecurity will be invaluable as the company navigates the complexities of modern mining.
“With growing demand for copper being driven by the global energy transition, his leadership will ensure that CCC has the technological infrastructure needed to meet this demand, while positioning us at the forefront of responsible and sustainable mining,” he adds.
