TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Harry Anagnostaras-Adams, the founder of EMED Mining, which is focused on restarting the legendary Rio Tinto copper mine, in Spain’s region of Andalucia, on Thursday resigned as MD, CEO and director with immediate effect.

The company said Anagnostaras-Adams would remain a significant shareholder and option holder of EMED Mining and would remain the chairperson of EMED’s affiliate, Kefi Minerals, to focus on that company's development.

The board said Rod Halliday, the current CEO of EMED’s subsidiary, EMED Tartessus, had been appointed as interim CEO and board member, while the board conducted a search for a new CEO.

EMED nonexecutive director Jose Sierra was appointed as the chairperson of EMED Tartessus.

"As the company moves into a phase of development and production, I have taken the decision to step down to allow the appointment of a new CEO with a skill set more appropriate to the future role. I would like to thank shareholders for their continued support and look forward to the company's transition into a major low-cost European copper producer,” Anagnostaras-Adams said.
