Aim-listed Edenville Energy is making inroads with its ramp-up in production at the Rukwa coal project, in Tanzania.

The company mined 2 240 t of run-of-mine coal and produced 1 024 t of washed coal in October, representing a 150% month-on-month increase.

Edenville sold 1 069 t of washed coal in October and has received orders from its existing customers for 3 600 t of washed coal for November.

The company has expanded its operations to a 12-hour a day shift to meet this demand and the team on site is aiming to maintain a daily production rate of 160 t of washed coal, or about 3 000 t a month.

CEO Alistair Muir says the increase in production, processing and sales follows upgrades to the Rukwa site conducted in the first quarter of the year and the company is seeing healthy interest in supply from the Tanzanian domestic market.
