Power management company Eaton launched its first month-long exhibition, called South Africa Mobile Tech Day, to showcase solutions in commercial construction that combine expert analysis and demonstrative exhibitions to address customers’ power management needs.

The Eaton Mobile Tech Day launched in Cape Town in mid-April and was then hosted in Pretoria and Johannesburg until the end of April.

This month, the event was showcased in Boksburg, Gauteng; the Vaal Triangle; and Richards Bay and Durban, in KwaZuluNatal. It will conclude in Port Elizabeth, in the Eastern Cape, at the end of this month.

“Eaton solutions, which are designed and built for functionality, sustainability and aesthetics, were demonstrated at the exhibition,” Eaton Electrical Africa marketing communications manager Sumaya Abdool explains, adding that industry experts discussed business issues face to face with established and new clients.

The Mobile Tech Day showcased the company’s power management solutions and products, including the recently launched hybrid inverter, an energy-saving and backup power system that allows for continued power supply during load-shedding.

Other products included light-emitting diode solutions, arc flash diagnostics systems, fire safety systems, emergency lighting solutions, ring main units used in medium-voltage applications and industrial control panels with SmartWire DT control wiring technology.

The technical seminars, run in conjunction with the exhibition, focused on key issues, including safety and mains lighting, energy storage and the safety evacuation of buildings. Abdool explains that a key aim is to protect people, assets and reputation for business continuity, as well as lower business risk with on-time project execution and expertise.

Eaton launched two new products at the Mobile Tech Day exhibition, the DDC direct current isolator and the Power Expert C445 motor management relay.

The isolator can be used in applications such as battery banks and uninterruptable power supplies to ensure isolation from direct current power supplies, as well as in solar power applications, says Eaton Industrial Control Devices product manager Devan Reddy. It also has a true two-pole switch configuration and is available in units from 63 A to 1 250 A, with a voltage range of up to 1 000 Vdc, with door interlocked handles and auxiliaries as additional features, he adds.
