Eastplats appoints CFO
Toronto- and Johannesburg-listed Eastern Platinum (Eastplats) has appointed David Li CFO and corporate secretary. With more than 20 years of global executive experience in the mining and manufacturing sectors across Canada, Asia and the US, Li is expected to spearhead the company's global financial strategy, capital allocation and corporate development.
"We are thrilled to welcome David to our leadership team. His deep expertise in project financing and strategic financial planning will be vital to our efforts to maximise the value of our operations and drive long-term growth," says Eastplats CEO Wanjin Yang.
Li has worked as CFO or VP for a number of mineral exploration, mine development and metal producing companies including Sumitomo Metal Mining Canada (SMM), Alderon Iron Ore Corp, Minco Gold, Minco Silver and Selwyn Chihong Mining.
While he served as CFO for SMM, Li managed financial functions for SMM's assets and investment in Canada. In this role, he successfully supported the construction and production of the Côté Gold project and completed several strategic investments in critical metals projects in Canada.
Li holds an MBA from Arizona State University, Thunderbird, School of Global Management. He is a chartered professional accountant in British Columbia and a certified public accountant in Illinois, in the US.
"I am excited to join Eastplats at this pivotal point in its production trajectory. I look forward to working with the team to optimise our financial operations and deliver strong value to our stakeholders," comments Li.
Eastplats owns platinum group metals and chrome production assets, including the Crocodile River mine, in South Africa's Bushveld Complex.
