KALGOORLIE (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Doray Minerals has announced a maiden ore reserve of 58 000 oz at the Judy lode deposit, which forms part of its Andy Well gold mine, in Western Australia.

Doray MD Allan Kelly told the Diggers & Dealers conference, in Kalgoorlie, that the maiden reserve replaced the gold produced at the Andy Well mine in the year to June.

“We have again shown that the Andy Well project can keep delivering returns with this exploration success, and has the potential to deliver even further.”

Mining at Andy Well was currently being conducted from the Wilber lode, which is immediately adjacent to the Judy lode. The Wilber lode started production with a 3.7-year mine life, and Kelly pointed out that following the discovery of the Judy lode, this mine life has been maintained, despite Andy Well producing 76 785 oz in the full-year to June.

“We have long believed that there is potential for a significant new high-grade gold camp to be uncovered at Andy Well through systematic exploration. The indications of a third high-grade deposit at Suzie, along with a significant increase in the depth extent of the Wilber lode, gives us comfort that in reality, we are more likely looking at a potential mine life well beyond that indicated by current reserves,” Kelly said.
