PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed explorer Desert Mines and Metals has been given permission by the Chungbuk provincial government to start mining at its Daehwa molybdenum-tungsten project, in Korea.

The project consists of two mines and covers three mining rights with a granted tenure until 2027/2028, subject to meeting certain performance conditions, including the application for and grant of mining permission.

“The granting of this application is a tremendous step forward in allowing the company to expand its continuing efforts to develop a viable and long-lasting molybdenum-tungsten business in Korea,” said MD Chris Rasleigh.

He noted that the company’s plans over the next six to nine months would be to gain safe access to the old workings and start preparation for detailed mapping, channel sampling, drill platform preparation for underground exploration and bulk sampling of the various lode structures.

Meanwhile, the core logging and assaying of the recently completed surface drill programme was expected to provide guidance for ongoing exploration.
