JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – The board of Melbourne-based explorer Dart Mining has issued its CEO John Cornelius a three-month notice period terminating his employment contract and has started a full review of the company’s operations.

The review of Dart Mining’s operations will be conducted by MD James Chirnside, who will report his findings to the board.

Dart Mining has extensive tenements in the Corryong – Bright area region of north-eastern Victoria. Its main focus is the Unicorn molybdenum, copper, silver, zinc project, which the previous board virtually abandoned. In May this year, Dart Mining published the results of a project definition study of the project, which it said significantly improved the project definition and business case.

The project definition study, which brought together prefeasibility-study-level external and internal analyses and reports, found that Unicorn could be mined using conventional openpit methods with a processing plant near the pit. An average of 10-million tonnes a year would be mined over 20 years.
