West Africa-focused gold producer Cora Gold has discovered a new 1.5 km gold zone at its flagship Sanankoro gold project, in Mali.

This follows the completion of a 1 264 m shallow reconnaissance aircore drilling programme.

The latest discovery, at Dako II, which lies to the south of Sanankoro, is in addition to the new 1.5 km gold zone identified at the Bokoro II permit. Cora on July 27 informed shareholders of the discovery of the gold zone at Bokoro II.

Many similar targets remain to be tested, the company said on July 29.

"We are delighted to have made a new discovery at the Dako II permit, only 7.5 km from the Sanankoro gold project's southerly resources. This discovery adds to the Bokoro II discovery that was announced earlier this week and, once again, it is exciting to see both good shallow oxide grades and widths of mineralisation.

"There remain further targets to test in the 7.5 km zone between this discovery and our nearest existing resources at Zone A," commented Cora CEO Bert Monro.
