Company to showcase medical insurance offering at indaba

DAVID VAN DER KOOIJ SwissFin works with Bupa International to provide a range of international medical insurance plans for employers in Africa who want to provide cover for their expatriate employees
Health insurance company Bupa International’s 2014 range of products and services is being exhibited by Cape Town-based short-term healthcare asset and commercial insurance provider and immigration and investment partner Swiss Financial Consulting (SwissFin) at the 2014 Investing in African Mining Indaba, which will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from February 3 to 6.
This will be the second time that SwissFin will exhibit at the indaba.
“SwissFin works with Bupa International to provide a range of international medical insurance plans for employers in Africa who want to provide cover for their expatriate employees,” explains SwissFin sales director David van der Kooij.
He states that SwissFin intends to network at the indaba with companies operating in Africa, which will “ultimately benefit from our service offering”.
Mining and Exploration Health Insurance Offering
According to SwissFin’s website, Bupa offers a specialist international health insurance plan that provides comprehensive cover at a cost-effective price and is tailored to meet the requirements of companies operating in the mining and exploration industry.
“As an international organisation, the scale and scope of Bupa’s business is a huge advantage – it enables Bupa to manage costs, share knowledge and influence the quality of care delivered to our members,” states SwissFin.
Van der Kooij adds: “Bupa provides access to more than 785 500 medical providers worldwide.
“Equally reassuring is the fact that Bupa offers direct payment to more than 10 800 different hospitals and clinics,” he states.
Van der Kooij says that the key features of Bupa’s worldwide health insurance coverage offering include 24-hour access to the companies’ multilingual medical support teams, evacuation and repatriation options, with eligible cancer treatment, as well as magnetic resonance imaging and computerised tomo- graphy scans, being covered in full.
“Providing high-quality healthcare in Africa is not always easy, which is why it is worthwhile for companies attending the indaba to come to our exhibit and see what services Bupa can offer,” highlights Van der Kooij, who adds that, as a group, Bupa is trusted by more than 14-million members in 190 countries.
Indaba Aims
“Naturally, we would like to grow our business footprint; however, the take-up process of healthcare packages can have a long lead time, so we hope to create as many connections as possible for potential future business opportunities,” says Van der Kooij.
He adds that the indaba affords the company opportunities to interact with influential people from all over the world.
“The indaba is a fantastic event for South Africa to host and, with the large number of foreign attendees, it can only lead to an increase in tourism going forward,” Van der Kooij concludes.
