Company Announcement: Vale Moatize Project Phase One

Goscor KLG excelled in providing the supply, design, installation and commissioning of the compressed air equipment and piping reticulations for the laboratory and various workshops on Phase One of the Vale Moatize Coal Mine Project For all the lofty expectations of a great mining boom post-recession, mining companies are very circumspect of overexposing themselves to the huge risk of undertaking huge projects, and when they do they are ensuring that the execution is meticulous and they only have the best team of subcontractors/consultants onboard. So, when Brazilian group Vale was looking for consultants/contractors to provide services for its Vale Moatize Coal Mine project, one of the preferred companies was Goscor KLG, a subsidiary of the Goscor Group of Companies. Goscor KLG’s role in the project was to supply, install and commission ten Sullair rotary screw compressors all with their associated air dryers, filters, receivers and piping cross over systems. Specifically, the project required the company to provide the piping reticulation in all of the 5 workshops associated with the project. The real challenges was the HDV and LDV workshops that are over 22 meters high, none the less the team took these challenges in their stride.
Despite encountering problems during the course of working on the project, the Goscor KLG team excelled, under the supervision of its vastly experienced Project Engineer, Colin Tyrrell, who proved to be most resourceful. The project was concluded within the stipulated time and the installations were signed off and handed over to the mine. All the parties involved – the client, the contractor and KLG - were contented. Tyrrell believes Goscor KLG’s machinery was chosen largely because of its robust nature and proven reliability. “Our products continue getting positive feedback from clients, which proves that there is something we do right.” So far, Goscor KLG is encouraged by the positive feedback it has got from Vale on the performance of its products. Goscor KLG’s Managing Director, Jason le Roux, says: “The mine is very happy with the installation and the machines are performing very well in the harsh Mozambique environment. Vale is preparing for phase two. We have tendered and we are confident that should we be awarded the tender we are 100% ready to tackle the project as the knowledge gained in phase one has given us the insight to overcome any challenges in the successful completion of the compressed air installations of phase two.”Adequately resourced to provide services to mining projects throughout the region, Goscor KLG Compressed Air Solutions is a leading distributor of Sullair compressors, vacuum pumps and air tools in South Africa. ISO 9001 accredited, the company always strives to stay abreast of global trends to serve its customers satisfactorily, through our core values: professionalism, partnership, passion, integrity, family values, entrepreneurship and empowerment.
